How much do you charge?

JL:

Zoom conversations with groups studying one of my books are always free as are events in my town of Fayetteville, AR. I’m open to three of these per month.

Holy Ghost Stories-related Zoom conversations with your organization, group, or Bible class are always free.

Justin & JL together:

$2000 plus travel for a Storied Family or Storied Marriage workshop

Other formats and topics are negotiable.

Why is Justin more expensive than JL? Good question. His availability is much more limited.

How do you choose where you’ll speak?

Are you looking to point to the triune God as Creator, King, Father, and Friend? Do you appreciate truth & beauty? Are you looking for vulnerable testimony about the goodness of life with God? Then we’re probably a good fit.

We’re eager to partner with a wide cross section of the Kingdom—that means we welcome invitations from any church or denomination, assuming we will be given freedom to share whatever God’s given us to share.

We’re also open to speaking outside of the church context, but know that for us story and worship are inextricably linked. Talking about one usually leads to the other.

How far out are you booked?

We’re currently booking for 2024.

What do you like to talk about?

Justin:

Anything story related. Mostly I like to tell stories (which means Holy Ghost Stories Live expressions will always be my favorite kinds of engagements). But I also get worked up talking about the power of stories and their importance in our church and family rhythms. I’m a devotee of meditation and seeking God’s face as we interact with Scripture. I’m a giant fan of pilgrimage as spiritual practice, and I like to talk shop about story craft.

I’ve led men’s retreats with a Holy Ghost Stories angle, telling stories and helping men discover Yahweh inside them. I also like empowering families to live and tell better stories.

A few titles from recent messages I’ve delivered:

  • It’s All in the Telling: Are We Handling Biblical Narrative Incorrectly in the Church?

  • Imaginative Prayer: Where Biblical Narrative Becomes Immersive Worship

  • I Have No Home (Lessons learned during an enchanted season of radical international pilgrimage)

  • If it's Not Good, it's Not Over: A Story About a Playground in England

JL:

I’m always exploring some new-to-me facet of life with Yahweh. Right now I’m interested in the following:

Reading the Bible to fall in love with God (I wrote a book on this is 2021–Look to Love–and still can’t stop talking about it. It’s the single most powerful practice leading me into relationship with Yahweh.)

Prayer (Especially contemplative prayer, The Lord’s Prayer, and the disciplines of thanksgiving and praise—My book on prayer is titled Prayer, In Practice)

I’m deep diving into Jonah’s prayer in Jonah 2 and the idea of praising God before we understand all He’s doing—I’d love a title like “Praise from the Belly of the Fish.”

Generally speaking, I am always eager to talk about hardship, suffering, waiting, grief, pain, etc. My personal experience makes me eager to help those who find themselves drowning in darkness.

I also love, love, love talking about testimony (both in the context of an individual life and in the context of the local church). I’ll explain why it matters, what it accomplishes, and help you identify the story God’s writing in your life or your church.
